课程: Nano Tips To Get Time Back in Your Day with Lisa Bodell

Track your time to maximize your day

- You know, so much of our time gets hijacked by the unplanned, the unnecessary, and the downright pointless. Are you in control of your time or are you simply executing your calendar each day? It's time to shift from spending or wasting time to investing it in things that matter. Start by tracking how you really spend your day. You're going to be surprised. First, log every task for one week: emails, unplanned requests, even coffee breaks. You're going to spot time wasters, see patterns, and realize the amount of miscellaneous activities that aren't on your calendar, but take up real time. Next, assign a basic value to each task you see. High Value is for anything tied to your KPIs. Medium is for tasks that support progress but aren't make-it-or-break-it, and Low Value is for tasks you can delay or delete. Now, reclaim one hour, just one hour, of your time the following week based on what you see. What can you do differently? What can you eliminate or even better shorten? Deloitte uses this method to uncover inefficiencies. They implemented time blocking where you group like activities together, and it resulted in a 20% reduction in wasted time. Who knew that simply tracking your time could be such a game-changer? It's time to make your hours work for you.
