Setting achievable goals

- Goals are a huge heart of self-motivation. After all, we have to know what we're working towards, right? When thinking about your goals, I want you to keep these three things in mind. Prioritize flexibility. This might sound counterintuitive, but things in life rarely go as planned. As you set your goals, make sure that you stay adaptable so that you don't get frustrated, if circumstances change. For example, if you want to learn a new software tool, but also know that you have a lot of personal events to attend that month, add in some buffer time to accommodate your schedule. Break down your tasks. Have you ever been faced with what feels like a daunting task? It's stressful, right? I've learned that breaking those overwhelming tasks into smaller manageable steps makes a huge difference. Doing this will help you create milestones along the way and feel more accomplished as you make your way through them. For example, you may have a goal of expanding your network. How about we change that goal to, attend one networking event per month? We can make it even more manageable and see your progress more clearly, if we break that down further to be, speak to at least two people at each networking event I attend. And lastly, get feedback. Just because you're self-motivated doesn't mean you need to work in a silo. Find trusted peers or mentors who can give you feedback on your goals and give you new ideas for how to achieve them.
