Virtual presentations vs. in-person presentations

- I believe that being a strong confident virtual presenter is one of the best ways to stand out at work. Contrary to what you may hear, virtual presentations aren't a subpar option to in-person presentations. They're just different. When you present virtually you have the ability to create an experience for audience members that you can't do in person. Think of all the videos we watch online. When done well, video is such an immersive and engaging experience. Here are just a few exciting reasons to lean into virtual presentations. Technology. There is so much technology out there now that can help bring your virtual presentation to the next level. Programs like OBS, Prezi, Loom and Ecamm have created new ways for you to build virtual presentations and videos that delights and engage audiences and help you stand out from other presenters. Reach. One of the most exciting things about virtual presenting is you get to reach so many more people and you're being more inclusive for people who can't travel. Comfort. When you present virtually it's often from your own home. That added level of comfort can help with your confidence. And flexibility. A virtual presentation doesn't need to always be viewed live. Recording it so your audience can watch at a time that's convenient to them, means they're more likely to pay attention to what you're sharing. There are of course known downsides too. Often audiences are more distracted online. There's less physical space to make an impression and you don't get that immediate audience feedback. However, when you are a strong virtual presenter you can overcome all of these things.
