Practice and record your presentation
- One of my favorite parts about virtual presentations is that you get to practice them in the exact environment where you're going to present it. A good rule of thumb is to practice one hour for every one minute of presentation you have. So, a 20-minute presentation requires 20 hours of practice. Consider breaking up your presentation in sections so that you can practice one section at a time. When you record yourself, keep going even if you stumble over your words so that you get through the whole presentation. And watch out for your presentation ticks. We all have them. When I started presenting virtually, I noticed in recordings that I rocked side to side while standing. I know it's an uncomfortable feeling hearing ourselves speak and watching ourselves on camera, but it will make a world of difference in helping you improve.
