TI-LFA preference

TI-LFA preference

- [Instructor] In this lesson, we will cover TI-LFA preference and see what happens when multiple protection mechanisms are enabled simultaneously. So far, we have learned about TI-LFA for link protection, node protection, and SRLG. But if we enable multiple of these protocols at once, which one will be preferred? To understand this better, let's start with a simple scenario that includes four routers, R1, R2, R3, and R4. In this setup, we have two links between R1 and R2 and the destination network, 4.4.4.4/32, is connected to R4. According to IGP cost, the base path from R1 to 4.4.4.4/32 is R1 to R2 using GigabitEthernet0/0/0/0, then from R2 to R4. The total cost of this path is 3. First, let's enable TI-LFA link protection on the GigabitEthernet0/0/0/0 interface of R1. Now, if the GigabitEthernet0/0/0/0 fails, IGP will calculate the post-convergence paths to protect against this link failure. With link protection enabled, the backup path will reroute traffic from R1 to R2 using the…
