- [Instructor] So now that I've created a VPC that can act as a staging area, I want to create a couple of subnets within that VPC. So what I'm going to do is click on Subnets, and here you can see all of the existing subnets. And these subnets are scattered across various VPCs within my Amazon cloud. So what I'm going to do is click on Create subnet. Now we have to choose a VPC to associate the new subnet with, so I'm going to select my VPC that I just created, that's the Staging Area VPC. And I'll scroll down just a little bit. And the first thing that we have to do is to provide a subnet name. So I'm just going to call this Staging 1. (keyboard keys clicking) And it's a good idea to try to avoid duplicating any subnet names that you're already using in other VPCs. So the next thing that we have to do is choose an availability zone. So I'm going to click the down arrow. Now, I'm working in US East 1, so I'm going to choose us-east-1a as my availability zone.
