- [Instructor] Azure Key Vault, or AKV as Microsoft employees call it, is our cloud-based secret store. Now, do we have to consume these secret objects from within Azure? Absolutely not, but for the purposes of exam AZ-500, that's where all of your secrets are. Depending upon your pricing tier, you may be able to leverage Hardware Security Modules, or HSMs. Basically, you're paying extra money, and there's a couple ways that you can do HSM. If you need additional levels of isolation in a single tenant environment, you can pay even more for that. But the more common use case is to enable the highest pricing tier with AKV, no surprise, and when you go to create a new key, I'll show you in the demo, but you can leverage hardware which is going to be faster, it's going to compute these ciphers, and do the encryption and cryptography operations faster, more reliably.
