- In their book, "First, Break All the Rules." Marcus Buckingham and Curt Cofffman suggest that managers develop verbal routines for employee conversations. They tell us these general rules of thumb, create consistency and consistent communication fosters a feeling of security. Well, this is particularly good advice for new managers.
