- [Instructor] It's harder to visualize where you are on the file system on the command line than on the gooey. However, there's a command that can assist you called tree. Type into a terminal tree space slash ETC and hit enter. By default, tree recurses into directories and displays a nice directory tree. Tree is not a replacement for the LS command as it doesn't give us many file details, but it can be a handy tool to visualize the directory structure. Tree has an option to show us the full path to each file and directory. Type in tree space dash F space slash ETC and hit enter. This is nice because we can see the actual full path and we can still visualize which files are in which directories. I find it sufficient to just show the full paths to files without the nesting lanes. To do so, provide the dash I option to remove the indents.
