- [Instructor] You can configure most network settings using GUI, but not all. Complex operations require going to the command line, or editing files. Let's take a look at the GUI networking tools. Let's go to the applications menu. Then down to system tools, and over to settings. Now double click on network. This is the same interface that you'll get if you click the top right hand menu, choose the network connection, and then click on the settings item. Here we can click on the gear icon on the bottom right hand corner of the window to edit settings. Let's click on security in the left hand pane. Here we can edit the 802.11x security settings. By clicking on identity, we have access to the interface name, MAC address, MTU size and firewall zone. Next is the IPv4 IP Address section. Here we can choose the method in which we want to configure the connection. Mine is on dynamic using DHCP. In this mode I can still override the DNS, and static route settings.
