- [Instructor] iSCSI with the utility targetcli is a way to make a block device or other sorts of things available to a remote computer and it can appear just as a SCSI disc to the remote computer. So you can have a server or making storage available to clients. The server will be a target and that's why you use targetcli. And targetcli has lots of commands and it has a structure, kind of like a tree. So to create an iSCSI, you do a cd /iscsi after you run the targetcli command. Then you do create and you can do ls and you'll see the target that got created. But that's just part of the process. So you can see you'll get a name, something like this, and you'll need a portal. And to create a portal, you'll change into this path and then do / portals create. We'll look at that in a minute. And then you got to create the LUN.
