Rescuing a system
- [Narrator] Sometimes when you install a new kernel on a system, you can get a kernel panic. This is especially true if you have custom drivers for video or hardware installed in the old kernel, but not in the new. It can also happen if a new driver is incompatible with the hardware. There are two levels of troubleshooting modes that you can utilize to fix problems like this, booting into a new kernel, and booting into a different systemd target. If there's a kernel panic, first try a different kernel. To do so, forced the computer to reboot. You can simulate this by rebooting your VM. (keys clicking) If you're using an older version of Enterprise Linux, you'll see a GRUB prompt with a timeout, but on newer systems, you will not unless you hit the Escape key until it shows up. If you're not quick enough, and the system starts booting the OS, then go into the VM machine menu and reset it to get another chance.
