Monitoring system resources
- There's a few ways to find out what's going on behind the scenes in Ubuntu. First, let's take a look at what the system is currently doing. I'll open up the system monitor from the search area within the activities view. I'll click on the processes tab. Here, we can see a list of all the programs that are currently running and how much of different resources they're taking up. Some of these are apps you'll recognize and others are background sort of things that the system runs. We can sort the display by CPU or by memory to see what's taking up a lot of resources. I'll open up a game. And if I switch back to system monitor, here, I can see the process for this game. Currently it's not really using any CPU and it's only using 19.2 megabytes of memory.
