- [Narrator] In this movie, I will show you how to create stacked area graphs using Minitab. Stacked area graphs are useful for showing the cumulative sum over time, and how each group contributes to the whole. Open exercise file, 02_08. Here, we have quarterly sales numbers for three regions, North, South, and Midwest. You want to see how total sales perform throughout the year, but you are also interested in seeing how each region contributes to total sales each quarter, so, the stacked area graph is appropriate. Go to "graph." "Area graph." "Multiple Y's overlaid," since we want to see all three regions on one graph. "Okay." For Y variables, select all three regions. Go to "options." You have a choice of selecting "order of entry" or "degree of variation." For now, let's select "order of entry." For a "time scale," we have a "stamp" and we select "quarter." "Okay." And "okay."
