Creating random data in Minitab
- [Instructor] In this movie, I want to show you how to create random data in Minitab. You can generate random data from any probability distribution. Let's say you want to randomly generate three columns of data, each with 10 data points from a normal distribution with a mean of five and a standard deviation of 0.1 as an example. To do that, go up to Calc, select Random Data. Number of rules to generate will be 10. That's what we want. If we have three columns, let's put it in C1 through C3. So C1 hyphen C3. We have the normal here. Notice the setting here is for the standard normal with a mean of zero and a standard deviation of 1.0. But before we do that, let's take a look at this. You have a whole choice of distributions here, from Bernoulli, beta, binomial, chi square, discrete, exponential, F, gamma, geometric, all the way down to normal, Poisson, t, and uniform and Weibull distributions. In our example, let's choose normal and our mean was five. Standard deviation is 0.1. And…
