Correlation with simple regression using Minitab
- [Instructor] In this movie, I will show you how to do correlation with scatterplot and simple regression. Open Exercise File 05_06. Here we have data on speed, driver reaction time, and stopping distance of a vehicle after the brakes have been applied. The question of interest here is, does speed affect stopping distance? We can do a correlation on that together with a scatter plot. Go to Stat, Basic Stats, Correlation, and our variables are Speed and Stopping Distance. Go to Options. We can choose a default of Pearson and default of 95% confidence level. OK. Go to Graphs. I like to choose for stats to display Correlations and p-values because the p-value enable us to determine the significance of a correlation result. OK. Go to Results. I like to choose all three. OK and OK. And here, we see this scatterplot. Let's go to Output screen and make this bigger. It looks like there is a very strong correlation, a positive one, because as speed increases, stopping distance increases. This…
