- [Instructor] In this movie, I will show you how to compare medians using non-parametric tests. Open exercise file 05_05. Here we have processing times of three offices A, B, and C. More often than not, processing times may not follow a normal distribution. In such cases, the median is a better measure of central tendency than the mean. Let's say I want to see the population median of A is equal to or different from 70. To do that, I can run a one sample Wilcoxon test. Go to stat non-parametrics. One sample Wilcoxon, and let's choose A for the variable, confidence level 95% or 5% alpha, test median when test against 70, whether it's equal to or not equal to, hence our alternative is not equal to. Okay, that let's go see the output screen. And here we have the descriptive stats, the null alternate hypothesis and the P value from the test. This P value of 0.654 is larger than the alpha of 0.05.
