- [Instructor] The Windows operating system pushes down updates to itself on a regular basis. You've probably already noticed at one point or another that if you haven't turned your PC on for a while, it usually has a long list of updates. It's very important to let these happen. I'm going to click inside the search bar, so let's check and make sure that Windows is automatically updating itself. These updates usually consist of bug fixes, performance updates, and security updates, so we need to make sure these happen. I'm going to type Windows Update, and I can click on either of these options, but I'll click Windows Update Settings. They'll both get me near to where I need to be. This update status is the most important bit. It's telling me that my computer is up to date. It's also telling me the last time that it checked, I can manually check for updates at any time by clicking this blue Check for updates button.
