课程: Google Workspace Hacks: Unlocking Digital Productivity
Intro to Gmail
- [Instructor] "I've always thought that I could be much more productive if I could type by talking instead of having to type each word with my hands. Well, as you can see, that is now a reality." I'll push stop over here on the left, and as you can see, I just talked and dictated these words. This is the Voice Typing Tool inside of Google, and I love it. I think it's a feature that can make you much more productive. I know that I've saved a ton of time and frustration by using this Voice Typing Tool. I like to use it to type things out initially and then go back over it and make some changes and corrections if needed, because there's obviously going to be some mistakes where maybe it typed something out wrong. You may forget to put in a comma somewhere, but then you can go in and use the grammar spelling tools and make any corrections you need. So I think this is a great way to get your first draft in. Now, in order to use this, I'm going to close this out and show you how we can get there. When in here, I'm going to go down where I would want to type, and I'm going to go up to the top two tools. From here, I'll go to voice typing. That brings up this little microphone icon, and when I click on it, I can begin speaking. Now, "Early on, these dictation tools were not very good at understanding what you were saying and then correctly inputting it." Well, you can see that they're doing better now. They've gotten much better at understanding people, and they've become very productive. Obviously, this won't be useful for everyone in every situation, but if you think you may benefit from it, I recommend giving it a try. If you do, make sure you're in a place where you can speak without bothering others, and also that you're in an environment where there isn't too much surrounding noise. If you have to do a lot of typing and think this dictation tool is something you use a lot, it may even be beneficial to purchase a USB microphone to help make the dictation even more clear.
