Talent acquisition and onboarding
- Recruiting top talent has never been more challenging as workers reimagine their relationship with work and prioritize flexibility, inclusive company culture and wellbeing. Identifying, attracting, recruiting, and retaining the best talent in a dynamic employment landscape will continue to be one of HRs biggest challenges. Generative AI can mitigate some of the heavy lifting by streamlining processes. There are several areas in which Gen AI can drive momentum in talent acquisition. In this video, I'll focus on three fundamental areas, job descriptions, interview questions, and onboarding. Let's talk about job descriptions. Often the challenge is not only in writing the job responsibilities and qualifications, but also in avoiding aspirational qualifications and biased language. Additionally, job descriptions should clearly amplify the employer brand and communicate the meaningfulness of the role so the job seeker can envision themselves thriving in your company. Here's how Gen AI can help. You can ask it to create a job description for a position. You could create a prompt with a scenario that includes a description of the role, core competencies, and its functional and organizational relevance. Ask it to include KPIs and describe the organization's culture, values, purpose, and core beliefs. Now, you'll need to experiment with the prompts and you'll have to write more than one. However, the result is that Gen AI can create a high quality job description that resonates deeply with the right candidates. You can also have Gen AI summarize the job description and use the summary to advertise the position on relevant social media platforms. Let's talk about developing interview questions. Creating lists of interview questions, particularly competency, behavioral based, and candidate specific questions can be challenging and time consuming. Gen AI can analyze job descriptions to create customized interview questions. It can also aid in reducing bias and add consistency across interviews. You could create a prompt that defines the requirements and nuances of a role as a guide for generating competency, behavioral, and role specific questions. You can even blend cultural and functional specific nuances into the prompt request, or you might ask it to summarize a candidate's profile to generate a list of customized questions. Again, you will need to experiment with the prompts, but by enabling generative AI to assist the outcome is that you have a list of high quality questions to streamline processes, deeply assess and select higher caliber candidates and free up time for you to focus on the more strategic aspects of the talent acquisition process. Let's talk about onboarding. According to a recent Paychex survey, 80% of new hires with poor onboarding experiences planned to quit in the first year. Conversely, according to Glassdoor effective onboarding processes boost the retention of new hires by 82%. Here's how Gen AI can help. Let's say you need to create a 30, 60, 90 day onboarding program for new leaders. That includes a clear focus, goals, priorities and metrics for success. You could create a scenario that includes organizational context, candidate profile information for personalization and strategic priorities, goals, and KPIs for the role. Then ask it to generate a plan that builds upon itself at iterations of 30, 60, and 90 days and include smart goals. For additional support ask it to use the information from the program to generate a personalized enroll specific onboarding guide for the new hire. As a bonus, ask it to develop a list of questions to collect feedback from new hires to assess the program's effectiveness. Of course, you'll need to experiment with the prompts and may have to write more than one. However, the result is that generative AI can create high impact personalized onboarding plans that align with organizational culture and provide new hires with the onboarding experiences they deserve. Ask yourself, how can generative AI help you improve productivity and efficiency in creating job descriptions, interview questions, or onboarding plans. Next, we'll take a look at how Gen AI can support your team's leadership development.
