- [Instructor] Aggregate functions in FileMaker are used to calculate various summarizations over sets of data. I'll show you some examples if we go into the Data Viewer, I'm in the Watch tab, and I'm just doing this so I can show you the edit expression dialog, and over here you'll see that we've got a bunch of functions called Aggregate. Some things should be familiar here like averaging, counting, giving you the minimum, maximum, or even the sum. Now the original intent, for example, like with this Average, is to put a few values in here and then it'll spit back out to you what the average of all those are. This is almost never used that way, obviously you're not going to put numbers into it, calculation function, but you're not even going to string together a bunch of fields, 'cause really by just putting together that formula, you're kind of doing the math anyways, and really where the magic happens with Aggregate…
