- Let's talk about VLOOKUP. Even though we have XLOOKUP now, which is a much more robust version of XLOOKUP and we have the joins in Power Query. Unfortunately, not everybody has XLOOKUP or Power Query yet, so there is still a place for VLOOKUP. Let's get into it. We've got this data, we have guests, the states they're from and we want to capture the region and the state bird. Let's go to the main list because that's where the data is and it's in a table, let's check that out. Yep, it's in a table. And one thing about VLOOKUP, it has to look right, so we're going to be looking for the state and we can get to Census Region easily, but the state bird is to the left. So here is what I'm going to do. Just grab this column and move it over. Now, VLOOKUP, let's get the region. Equals VLOOKUP, double click on it. Look up what? Look up Hawaii. Comma, the table array.
