- [Instructor] Here we have data about people, their activities, their start and end times. The goal is to round the elapsed times to the nearest 15 minutes so that we can get these people paid. In order to do this I'm going to employ the use of what we call helper columns. I could do these calculations all in one big monster formula, but then that can be hard to build. It can be hard to troubleshoot or modify if you want to do that later. So let's use some helper columns and now watch. First of all, we need to get the difference of the times, and then we're going to have to convert it into decimals, and then the nearest 15 minutes and enter. Okay, double click there and slide this side of the way. Now the difference equals the end time minus the start time, enter. We don't want it formatted that way. We want it formatted this way.
