- [Instructor] In the previous movie, we calculated the economic order quantity for an inventory policy that allows backorders. In this movie, we will calculate the point at which you should make that order. My sample file is 02_04 ReorderPoint and you can find it in the Chapter 2 folder of the Exercise Files collection. The EOQ or economic order quantity with planned backorders is the regular EOQ multiplied by the inverse of the critical ratio. So to do that calculation, I will go into cell E5 which I've already selected and then type equal and that formula is B8 which is the regular EOQ without backorders multiplied by the square root of the inverse of the critical ratio. So that is in parentheses E3, the cost of shortage, plus E4 which is the cost of excess and that's just your inventory holding cost. So you can see that over here in B7 and the cost of shortage is how much you think you lose every time a customer declines to place an order because an item is not in stock. So we…
