- [Instructor] When we're building Excel models, it's important that we understand how the Excel models are going to work and the rules and principles that will guide those Excel models at a high level. So to begin with, you need to understand that building good Excel models is hard. There's really no single set of accepted rules that I could point you to for building an Excel model. The reality is that models vary dramatically between different industries. If we're trying to model, for instance, the probability or risk of an event in one industry, that's going to be completely different than a model built around forecasting sales in another industry. So we can't necessarily come up with a set of steps that'll work for every single model that's out there. But basic principles and precepts certainly do apply here.
