Use symbols and the REPT function for in-cell charts
- [Instructor] In Excel there's a function called REPT, think of the word repeat. Obviously it's spelled differently. This worksheet has that name in it. It's for an in cell chart. This is a variation on a chart that actually can use a symbol and tons of symbols are available too. Let's imagine that although we see column D here with salaries, we've got 600 entries here, let's say we don't really want to show the salaries, we might want to show a series of symbols, maybe asterisks, or some other symbols, that just give us the relative size here. And typically we'd do this in a separate column, and we might or might not want to keep column D visible. I'm going to zoom in, holding down the Control key, rolling the mouse wheel, and, first of all, just put the letter X up here in cell E1. That'll be our starting symbol.
