课程: Employee Experience

What is employee experience?

- So employee experience is basically comes from you, the employee. What you see, what you feel, how you experience your work life. And for me as a head of talent, I simply break it down to three main components. One is the culture, it's the people around you, how we pay you. It's your benefits, it's our cultural tenets, our values, our leadership behaviors. That's culture. The other leg on this stool would be the tools we give you to do your job. So how easy is it to do your job? How transparent, how do you get your data, your insights? Can I do the transactions I need for myself, my work, my family for benefits? And the environment is the third leg of the stool, and how you experience your environment at work when you walk through your hallways. How does that make you feel? If you work from home, how is that set up so you feel your best self? That is your experience and if you pull that whole thing together in a beautiful way, it creates the stickiness that matters. So how many of us care about engagement? I do. And the reason why engagement matters is because we know full stop that it creates better, higher-performing companies, and those companies win in the marketplace. So if you take dissatisfied employees to satisfied employees, that's a 40% difference in how they show up. If you take engaged employees on top of that satisfied population, that engaged employee through that amazing employee experience is 45% more productive, involved, innovative, helping us solve complex problems. So creating an employee experience that allows full engagement of a workforce is a competitive advantage. That's why that matters. So you'll ask me why now. Why does this even matter? It's been my passion for my career because I do care how you feel. People ask me what's my metric? And I'll say I count smiles. And I do, I really do. But why now? Why are we talking about it today? And the reason why we are is because a lot of our time, 1/3 of our time is spent at work. And if you're spending that time at work, it matters to me how you feel because I want to get the best out of you, I want the best version out of you, I want you to go home energized for your family because it's not just about you, although you do matter to me, it's about the family that you bring into the workplace all the time with you. So if I look at my employee count, if it's 5,000, 10,000, multiply that by three at a minimum and those are the lives that we touch with our energy and our attitude. And so in society when you're struggling with things happening outside work, you bring it in to your family at work. And how do we treat you? Who do you feel supported and guided? That is your experience. Do I feel included? Do I feel a sense of belonging? Do I feel respected, fairly paid? Do I feel like you're personalizing, understanding me, customizing things to make me a better version of myself with the tools you provide, the training you give me and the compensation that rewards my efforts? That's why this matters.
