Applying SAM
- [Instructor] SAM, Successive Approximation Model, is the Mustang of instructional design models. It gets in and gets the job done, fast. SAM uses a continuous, iterative design process through the lifecycle of development. The idea is to develop stages concurrently so you don't waste time in a linear review process. This model can be useful when your product is on a tight deadline or resources are limited. Let's look at the four phases of SAM in detail. The first phase is preparation. This is where you gather information. It is intended to be a quick and simple step so you can just jump right into the work. Next is the iterative design phase. There are three parts to this phase. First is prototype. This is where you make a simple mock-up of your design, like a wire frame. The second one is review.
