- [Narrator] Do you start a road trip with no destination in mind? Well maybe some of you adventurous types do but for most of us, we like to have a clear idea of where we're going before we set out to get there even if we don't know the exact path we are going to take. This is something you also need to consider when designing instructional content. The good news is educators Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe developed an instructional design method called Backward Design, which helps you map out your instruction and figure out your path, keeping the desired learning result in mind. Let's take a look at the three steps. The first is identify desired results. Here you ask, what do you want your learners to know and what are the outcomes of the instructional experience? Then the second step is determine acceptable evidence. Here we ask, what is the proof that your learners mastered the subject matter and what are the types of evidence?
