Exploring build plate adhesion

Exploring build plate adhesion

- [Instructor] There's more than one way to start a 3-D print. Different build plate adhesion options affect how your print sticks to the build plate. Let's talk about the various choices you have, and the pros and cons of each. So first of all, you can print directly onto the surface. The pros: It's fast and efficient. There's no post-processing time. And you get a smooth bottom surface. Cons: You can experience some corner lifting. And that's where an edge peels off the build plate, warping the print. You can print with a skirt. A skirt is a single line around your print. Pros: This gives you assurance that your build surface is level, because the skirt will print first. This give you some time to adjust your print bed, before the real print starts. You can print with a brim. A brim extends the first layer of your print for better adhesion. Pros: Less lifting and warping. Cons: It requires some post-processing, because you need to manually cut the brim from your print. No brim…
