- [Instructor] I hope you found this project to be challenging. It's a real-world problem, and like-real world problems, it doesn't come with a simple solution, or guidance to the correct answers. In past lessons, I've provided clean R code that illustrates a concept removing anything that doesn't illustrate that basic concept. In this project, I've included files showing the experiments I wrote and abandoned. Real-world research involves making some guesses, then having the depth of knowledge to switch methods if the first tactic isn't working. Take a look at the file labeled Mastodon Experiments. You'll find a messy file, where I first started work with the TM package, but then realized dealing with hashtags and punctuation would require some complex regular expressions. You'll see I switched to quanteda, because much of the code for working with hashtags was already part of the package. Switching made the task much simpler.
