- "You want us to buy a coffee and meet online "to get to know our teammates?" Cried one of my U.S. students who thought this was the most useless assignment ever. But when I read student reflections later in the semester, I was pleased to see his and other perspectives change. I had purchased coffee certificates for 44 students, 1/2 from Greece and the other 1/2 from our U.S. business school. They were working on a fast paced consulting project for a Greek company where all the work, including the final presentations, had to be done virtually. Now, for the coffee assignment, the students were assigned to cash in the prepaid certificate before the meeting. The Greek word for this is charisma, a gesture to demonstrate friendship and extend your hospitality. The students were instructed to share the relationship with coffee with their teammates.
