Evaluating team performance

- Your team likely fits one of two categories, either it was pulled together for a specific project and has a limited lifespan or its work is ongoing. Both kinds of teams benefit from a transparent performance evaluation system. An evaluation system catches plan or process issues on the fly. This helps the team make course corrections before the problem is too far along. Regular evaluation is useful to identify and apply lessons learned in the future. Why reinvent the wheel when your current experience can make the next attempt better? You may know this approach as continuous improvement, Kaizen or lean. The goal is to increase the effectiveness of your team or organization gradually over a period of time by optimizing the processes that work and changing or eliminating the ones that don't.
