Monitoring storage
- [Instructor] When we run a server it can be useful to know what's going on with our storage. And there's a few tools we can use to view storage activity. The first tool I want to show you is iotop. Io which stands for input, output, and top like we've seen with the top NH top commands, which shows statistics and active threads or processes. I'll install iotop here on Ubuntu server with apt install iotop then I'll open it up so we can take a look at the interface. There's not a lot going on on my system here but we'll change that in a moment. For now, I want to show you the basics of what's displayed here. At the top of the screen are statistics about real-time read and write activity on the disks. Below that is a list of processes in columns we can sort.
