- [Instructor] While installing software is quite useful, it's also important to keep it up-to-date, as new features are added and as security problems are identified and repaired. In order to keep software up-to-date, we'll need to take a few steps. First, we'll ask for the most recent list of software available from the repositories with the command apt update. Once the new list of packages are available, we'll see how many installed packages can be upgraded. In order to upgrade the software, we'll run apt upgrade. Or if we just want to update specific packages, we'll put the name of those packages here. Usually though, it's best to run through all the software on the system and get any available updates. Here on the system, there's a few upgraded packages to install. So let's let this run and make sure I have the latest and greatest versions of everything that I have installed.
