Exploring redundant storage
- [Instructor] Storing data on one disk is often just fine, but it's also a good idea to consider redundant storage for data that has value or needs to be available even in the case of disk failure. On a Linux server, we have a variety of ways to make storage volumes that aren't limited to just one disk. A fairly common setup for file servers and media servers for example, is to have a somewhat small system disk with enough space to support the operating system and whatever other services the system provides. And an array of larger disks configured in a redundant or fault tolerant way, which can provide protection against an individual disk failing.
