- Multivariate visualization is difficult because there aren't enough dimensions to keep adding more and more variables to traditional scatterplots. Each variable needs its own dimension and even three variables needs serious compromises as the third dimension has to be pseudo visualized on a two-dimensional plot. So another option is to visualize complex relationships via many by varied plots. In this lesson I'm going to walk you through a family of plots that are often called matrix plots. They create many graphs in one plot. Their principle is that they can condense a large amount of information onto many graphs that are then stitched together so that a natural connection between each sub graph exists.
