- User stories seem easy, right? Yet so many teams struggle to actually write them from an end user point of view. And this user view is so important to our work, and it's the best practice that successful agile teams use. But that being said, many teams run into times where it seems like something they need to do just can't be written from a user perspective. Much of the time they're just not applying these concepts correctly. And now thinking about the user impact some of the time, and in my experience, less than 10% of the time or less than 10% of your backlog, there are technical tasks that some call technical stories. I don't love the term technical stories because stories are about people using products. Technical tasks that do not impact the users are simply technical tasks to me. And there are very few that do not impact the user. I don't want to be on a team that only does technical tasks and can't communicate the value we're providing as a team. Do you?
