Minimum viable product (MVP)

- You have probably heard of the term MVP, but in an Agile context, we're not talking about the most valuable player. MVP in Agile stands for minimum viable product. The term has a few popular definitions and essentially it's the minimum version or release we can put out of a product that we can learn from or balance cost, risk and value from. It's a term that's thrown around a lot and yet few really understand it. Minimum viable product is about accumulating value, not risk. It's about making sure we do not over or under engineer the product. We don't want to work really hard and find out that all or part of what we built was not needed. And on the other hand, we don't want to discover our solution was too little, too late. It's about learning quickly and satisfying early adopters. It's about deploying just enough and quickly enough to determine if the product is viable and learn what is needed next in the product. It's about keeping our work small and flexible, so if other…
