What is a list in Power Query?
- If you were to ask me the most important value type in Power Query, I will rank lists at the top most position. Two particular reasons for that. Lists are not very hard to learn, and number two is that lists open up a lot of potential to make your queries dynamic, as you will obviously find out in the series of videos in this chapter. But for now, let's just start with the basics. All right, let's just start learning about lists from a blank Excel file. So I'm going to go inside of Power Query to create and work with a blank query. So Data tab, Get Data, and I'll say From Other Sources, and open up a blank query. Once we have created a blank query, let's just give this query a name. So I'm going to call this as my FirstList. And in the formula bar, let's just start to create an empty list. So I will start with an equals to sign. And remember that a list is always initiated in a curly bracket. So I will start a curly bracket and within which I will start declaring values. So I'll say…
