课程: Accessibility for Web Design
Making the digital world accessible
- 14. That's the number of times one person got stuck when I was doing usability testing with people with disabilities for an e-commerce flow early in my web career. The design and code had some pretty significant flaws for people with disabilities, and each one of them was completely preventable with a small bit of effort and care. I saw the parallels between these barriers and accessibility in the physical world that I had seen with my grandfather after he had a stroke. And at that point, I knew that my web career was going to be dedicated to making the digital world more accessible. I'm Derek Featherstone, and this is the course on accessibility for web design. I'm an international expert on accessibility and have been for almost 15 years. And I've taught tens of thousands of designers and developers how to make things easier to use for people with disabilities. This course will help you design things that work for the 20% of the world's population that has a disability. We'll look at designing from a few perspectives. Visual design for focus states, color contrast, and target size. On the interaction design front, we'll look at keyboard interactions, linear flow, and touch interfaces. And we'll round that out with a lot of discussion points for you and your development team to work on together. Okay, let's dig in to accessibility for web design.
