Underwriter/Broker

Summary

This position is primarily production based, responsible for building relationships with Agents and working with them to review and appraise applications for insurance.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Works closely with Agents to review and appraise applications for insurance.
• Determines eligibility of risks when compared to guidelines of programs available
• Evaluates the experience and complexity of a risk against the class of business under review
• Markets and negotiates with insurance companies on individual accounts
• Responds to questions and inquiries from Agents and insured
• Prepares quotations and submissions
• Provides prompt and courteous service
• Develops and maintains carrier relationships
• Assists support staff and resolves problems and questions

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of insurance experience preferred (E&S/Wholesale Preference)
• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and maintain a high level of detail orientation.
• Key competencies include: customer orientated, focus on quality, integrity, achievement orientation, results orientation, networking ability and strong planning and organization skills.
