About the Program:

The Scout Program is an initiative by Boomerang Ventures to identify and evaluate promising startups emerging from university ecosystems. As a University Scout, you will play a pivotal role in discovering innovative companies with high growth potential, particularly in healthcare, and related industries.

Key Responsibilities:

Time Commitment: 

• 10 hours/ week

Startup Discovery:

• Identify and evaluate startups, student ventures, and research projects at your university and within the North Carolina ecosystem with commercialization potential.
• Engage with student entrepreneurship clubs, research centers, and technology transfer offices to source leads.

Market Analysis:

• Assess startup ideas and projects based on market viability, innovation, and scalability.
• Conduct preliminary research on market trends, competitors, and potential customers.

Reporting:

• Provide detailed summaries and reports on startups and ventures to the Scout Program Coordinator.
• Highlight standout startups and innovative ideas for further evaluation by Boomerang.

Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program at a university in North Carolina.
• Passion for entrepreneurship, startups, and innovation.
• Familiarity with venture capital or startup funding processes.
• Analytical mindset with an ability to assess business viability and market potential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently.
