Staff Accountant Property Management

This is a fully onsite role in Southfield, MI

We are helping our client fill a Staff Accountant role. Our client has been involved in various types of residential, commercial, industrial, and high-tech real estate development for over seventy years in Southeastern Michigan. They work closely with architects, engineers, construction companies, and financial institutions, as well as state, county, and local government agencies to provide quality real estate developments. Their experience ranges from extensive urban revitalization to suburban subdivisions.

Job Summary:

Our client, a growing property management company, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their Multi-Family Accounting team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong communication and organizational skills, looking to advance their career in real estate accounting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and various other reports as required by ownership/management.
• G/L account analysis and reconciliations, including monthly reconciliations of intercompany accounts, asset accounts, and liability accounts.
• Assist with annual budget preparation
• Variance analysis
• Prepare and assist with year-end tax and audit work papers
• Coding invoices for accounts payable and review of the A/P input
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently
• Ad-hoc projects, reporting and account reconciliations, and other assignments assigned by the Accounting Manager, Controller and/or CFO.

Qualifications:

• Two or more years of real estate accounting experience and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience in AppFolio or an equivalent program is a plus
• Excellent time management skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (preferred)
