About SFC: 

Founded in 2021, Sport Fishing Championship (SFC) is a competitive sport fishing league representing 16 regions competing internationally across North America.


Sport Fishing Championship was launched in an effort to showcase the sport of saltwater fishing, positively impact the local economies of our championship towns and continuously improve our championship competition. Each of our proud SFC events is sewn into the fabric of incredible fishing towns, rich with history and championship pedigree. It is our mission to use our tournaments and our platforms to create a world-class experience for our anglers, corporate partners, fans, and staff. 


Position Summary: 

The Social Media Manager will be responsible for developing and executing SFC’s company social media strategy across multiple platforms, creating engaging content, managing online communities, analyzing performance metrics, and staying updated on digital trends to maximize brand awareness and engagement. This position will report to the Head of Marketing, and collaborate with Content, Partnership, and Sales teams to ensure consistent brand messaging across all channels.


Social Media Management:
  • Manage day-to-day posting, scheduling, and execution of content across all social platforms
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive content calendars for in-season and out-of-season strategies
  • Manage community engagement by responding to followers, fostering an online community, and monitoring brand mentions to uphold SFC’s reputation
  • Implement real-time content strategies during live events/tournaments, including updates, behind-the-scenes content, Q&As, and more
  • Coordinate cross-channel amplification, ensuring a cohesive brand presence across social media, email marketing, and website content
  • Ensure all content aligns with the SFC brand voice, particularly when integrating sponsored posts or UGC
  • Coordinate with production partners (photographers/videographers) and the in-house editor to capture high-quality visuals that align with SFC’s brand identity
  • Work with tournament partner social media teams to align on tournament content, including pre-event, live, and post-event coverage
  • Create shot lists for each tournament stop, integrating partner/tournament goals, requests, and key initiatives
  • Cross-promote and collaborate with SFC-affiliated anglers, teams, tournaments, and brands to expand reach and exposure


Strategy Development:
  • Define and implement social media goals that align with SFC’s overall marketing strategy
  • Identify target audiences across all platforms to engage and grow SFC’s fan base
  • Provide strategic support up to 14 Angling Clubs, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in their social media efforts
  • Manage any current or future agency partnerships for social media execution
  • Integrate data-driven insights into content planning, refining messaging and creative execution based on performance analytics


Content Creation:
  • Design and produce engaging social media content, including graphics, Reels, short-form videos, and raw content to optimize performance across channels
  • Write compelling, brand-aligned captions that resonate with the fishing and sports industries
  • Develop detailed content briefs for the creative team to ensure high-quality social media assets
  • Capture and edit real-time content during live events to enhance audience engagement
  • Create interactive content such as polls, Q&As, giveaways, and more to boost engagement


Campaign Management:
  • Plan and execute social media campaigns for tournaments, key events, and product launches
  • Collaborate with Partnerships, Sales, Creative and Content teams to integrate sponsorship content and league announcements into engaging social media campaigns that align with broader company goals
  • Identify and manage key influencer partnerships that align with SFC’s brand and mission to grow sportfishing


Analytics & Optimization:
  • Monitor performance indicators (KPIs), analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and generate reports for leadership and key stakeholders to drive informed decision-making
  • Analyze social media data, identify trends, and leverage insights to optimize future content and strategies


Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support the Head of Marketing with CRM initiatives and website updates as needed
  • Stay up to date on industry & sport-related emerging trends, platform updates, and best practices to keep SFC at the forefront of digital engagement


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in social media management with proficiency in Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Facebook, and Tiktok
  • Prior experience or strong knowledge of fishing, boating and / or saltwater community trends, including brands, influencers, and industry stakeholders
  • Proven ability to create and deploy compelling social media content during fast-paced live events
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging captions and maintain a consistent brand voice 
  • Strong visual design aesthetic with experience creating compelling social media content 
  • Analytic skills, with the ability to interpret data, measure campaign performance and optimize campaigns based on insights
  • Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns, deadlines and stakeholders. 
  • Experience creating compelling partner and sponsored content strategies to integrate brand collaborations effectively 
  • A solid understanding of digital marketing principles and best practices, including paid social SEO and email marketing integration 
  • Ability to travel to SFC tournaments and key events to capture live content and provide on-site social media coverage
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoship, Premier Pro, Lightroom) and video editing for social channels
  • Knowledge of community management tools (like Sked Social, Sprout, etc.) and social media reporting tools (Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, etc.)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environments, especially during live events
  • Self-Starter with a growth mindset, someone who is adaptable, proactive, and innovative in their approach to digital content
