This role, formally Senior Engineer, Embedded, Sensors, and Safety Software, will support the creation of reliable, safety-critical software that senses, monitors and controls the vehicle. This position requires exceptional software engineering skills, understanding of the full development life cycle, attention to detail, and ability to learn in unstructured environments.

The Role
This role, formally Senior Engineer, Embedded, Sensors, and Safety Software, will support the creation of reliable, safety-critical software that senses, monitors and controls the vehicle. This position requires exceptional software engineering skills, understanding of the full development life cycle, attention to detail, and ability to learn in unstructured environments.
- This is a hybrid position. Candidates must be located in the Denver area, or open to relocating**
- Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and delivery of real time software that processes raw sensor data into a consumable input to autonomy features (e.g. aggregated LiDAR point cloud)
- Create and enhance offline tooling in C++, Python and other languages as appropriate
- Evaluate, diagnose, and monitor sensor performance in test and deployment environments
- Develop/document software through all phases of the development lifecycle: concept, requirements, design, architecture, implementation, unit test, integration (HIL), and vehicle level system evaluation
- Assist in mentoring and educating the team and organization on HPC, perception sensors best practices, processes and tools
- Contribute generally to the growth and success of the Company and the building of a vibrant culture focused on the responsible deployment of zero-emission autonomous vehicle technology
- Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and delivery of application-level safety mechanisms
- Solve complex system safety problems with elegant solutions and apply judgment and experience to balance trade-offs between competing interests
- Professional experience developing sensor drivers and data processing (e.g. motion compensation, downsampling) for perception sensors (e.g RADARs, LiDARs, cameras…)
- Experience with HPC and leveraging GPUs for perception sensors data processing
- Significant experience developing software in Modern C++
- Familiarity with Python
- Experience developing software for autonomous vehicles or mobile robots
- Experience working with ROS or ROS2
- Excellence at creating/documenting software requirements and architecture designs
- Demonstrated strong leadership, people skills and cross-functional collaboration
- Excellent understanding of the software development life cycle
- Experience with Git
- Background developing software in a Linux environment
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field
- Experience developing safety significant application software
- Familiarity with functional safety specifications, including ISO 26262 and IEC 61508
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS), CAN, and Ethernet
- Master’s degree in computer science or computer engineering
- Salary: $155,000 - $195,000
- Equity: Equity package commensurate on experience and skills
