Team OHI had a productive week in DC moving the needle on legislation specifically important to RV parks and campgrounds. We had quality time meeting with Senators Kelly (AZ), Warnock (GA), Young (IN), Daines (MT) and the staff of 33 other senators and held strategy sessions with Sen. Durbin (IL) and our friends at the Merchants Payments Coalition to continue moving the Credit Card Competition Act closer to the finish line. Getting this passed into law will help all small businesses, including RV parks and campgrounds, that are currently drowning in credit card swipe fees. It will save the outdoor hospitality industry $$millions$$. Thank you to Ali Rasmussen, owner of Spacious Skies Campgrounds; Matt Rose, state exec of the Indiana Campground Owners Association; and Mike Gurevich, owner of Cherry Hill Park Campground for joining us in these meetings to tell your personal stories. I am so pleased to share that I will be serving on the OHI Board of Directors! It was an honor to have been nominated and an even bigger honor to have been voted in unanimously. I am looking forward to offering my unique perspective as a relative newcomer to outdoor hospitality, to continuing to foster connection, welcome and invitation within the community at large, and to collaborating with my fellow board members on tackling the issues that affect us all!
