The Position

We are in search of outstanding junior and mid-level associates with 2-6 years of patent litigation experience to support Avantech’s expansion. An ideal candidate will take initiative, have a positive attitude, and enjoy working on a high performing team in an entrepreneurial environment. We seek individuals whose previous experiences and personal skills mark them as future leaders in the firm and the courtroom. These positions offer exciting opportunities to perform a wide range of activities on high-profile IP matters—including conducting pre-suit investigations, managing discovery, arguing motions, taking depositions, developing trial strategy, and conducting trial activities.

Qualifications

·        Minimum of 2 years’ patent litigation experience

·        Exceptional writing, research, and communication skills

·        JD from a leading, accredited university and a strong academic record with a preference for a STEM degree

·        Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities

·        Ability and curiosity to dig deep and quickly grasp science and technology to fill knowledge gaps and offer solutions

·        Ability to translate complex concepts and strategies in a clear and understandable manner

·        Demonstrated ability to work independently

·        Superior interpersonal skills needed to thrive in a collaborative and distributed work environment

·        High energy level, competitive spirit, and a desire to excel

·        Authorized to practice law in the United States with no current or future requirement of sponsorship for employment visa status

Responsibilities

·        Analyzing patents and patent office correspondence

·        Conducting patent infringement, validity, and damages analysis

·        Performing legal research and preparing legal memoranda

·        Assisting with the preparation of written discovery and briefs

·        Working with experts to develop technical understanding and prepare reports

·        Reviewing technical documents to support patent litigation initiatives

·        Attending and supporting key litigation events, such as hearings and trials

·        Conducting depositions

·        Providing other support activities on client matters

Compensation:

·        Avantech’s compensation structure is competitive with other leading law firms. The anticipated salary for this position ranges from $210,000-$340,000, depending on academic record, experience, and billing goal (for which we offer significant flexibility).

Work Location:

This position is remote, with in-person meetings and collaboration as needed. Travel requirements outside of the typical demands of a nationwide litigation practice are expected to be minimal.
