IR Level II Technician

We are seeking a skilled IR Level II Technician with experience in furnace inspections to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in infrared (IR) thermography, with a strong focus on furnace and thermal equipment assessments. This position involves conducting inspections, analyzing thermal data, and providing actionable insights to improve equipment reliability and performance.
Essential Functions
· Perform infrared thermographic inspections on industrial furnaces, refractory systems, and other high-temperature equipment.
· Identify thermal anomalies, insulation deficiencies, and potential failure points in furnaces and heat-related assets.
· Document and interpret IR data, preparing detailed reports with recommendations for maintenance and repair.
· Work closely with maintenance teams and engineers to develop corrective action plans based on IR findings.
· Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and client requirements.
· Operate and maintain IR cameras and other related inspection equipment.
· Provide training and support to junior technicians and clients as needed.
· Stay updated on advancements in IR technology and best practices for furnace inspections.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
· NDT Methods – Expertise in multiple NDT methods and willingness to engage in ongoing learning and application of skills. Understand appropriate use of tools and equipment.
· Mechanical – Intermediate mechanical knowledge and aptitude.
· Communication and Active Listening – Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to speak and write clearly. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking appropriate questions.
· Able to Work a Demanding and Flexible Schedule - Strong work ethic required. Able to work long periods of time, up to 16-hour days. Able to respond to call-outs on short notice and to stay on site, including long distance travel for extended periods of time. Travel up to 75% of work schedule.
· Physical Demands – Able to frequently lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds on loose, rough or uneven terrain. Able to occasionally exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 150 pounds with assistance. Climbing and working at heights, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching,
reaching, handling, standing for long periods, walking, pushing, pulling, repetitive motion, working in confined spaces, working in extreme cold and heat, visual acuity, working near hazards including moving mechanical parts, working near electrical components and exposures to chemicals. Able to adapt to frequent, often daily, changes in the work environment.

Requirements
Education
· High School Diploma or GED.
Certification and Licensure
· Certified IR Level II Technician (in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A or equivalent).
· Valid driver’s license.
· Insurability through PROtect, LLC insurance carrier.
Qualifications & Requirements
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in infrared thermography, with a strong background in furnace inspections.
· Experience with various industrial furnaces, including refractory-lined units, kilns, boilers, and thermal processing equipment.
· Proficiency in using IR cameras (FLIR, Fluke, etc.) and related software for data analysis and reporting.
· Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, thermal dynamics, and insulation systems.
· Ability to work in high-temperature environments and follow proper safety protocols.
· Excellent problem-solving, communication, and report-writing skills.
· Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
