Position Summary

Since its inception in 2004, Geost has been committed to solving mission-critical space domain and ISR challenges for DOD, IC, and commercial customers. Our vision is to revolutionize the space-based payload market with innovative and novel designs for space, terrestrial, and airborne environments. As we grow our operations in Tucson, AZ and Chantilly, VA, we remain dedicated to the collaborative and innovative culture that is the foundation of our business. Geost is an operating unit of LightRidge Solutions.

Geost seeks an Electrical Engineering Fellow who will be responsible to plan, develop, coordinate, review, and support product designs throughout the product lifecycle. This person will be responsible both for architecting and executing new product platforms and will interact with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to ensure design meet requirements. The position requires wide-ranging skills and experience to include design background at various levels, overall system architecture, and circuit card design. The role will mentor early career engineers and provide guidance in circuit design, schematic capture, layout management, testing, and debugging. They will develop and proactively sponsor process and technology improvements. This position necessitates extensive background in electronics design including high level architectural development, low level design of high speed, analog, and digital printed circuit boards (mixed voltage, high precision, mixed-signal, and controller design).

The ideal candidate will possess experience in the design, fabrication, and test of electronics to support imaging systems, sensors, lasers, optical communication, and embedded processors. This will allow them to support the build of hardware for ground systems (fixed), vehicles (mobile), and spacecraft. Extensive experience with modern design tools is a must. A history of providing significant input to design and development of systems and products (including design skills experience with ISO/AS maintained rugged design environments associated with military or space vehicle platforms) should be demonstrated. Extensive knowledge of schematic design, PCB design tools (i.e. Altium and PADS), different communications buses, and designing high speed circuitry-low noise amplification is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Solve most complex engineering problems and communicate solutions to other engineers, management and other key stakeholders.
  • Produce high quality scientific and/or engineering papers for customer reports.
  • Lead analysis and model in support of requirements and architecture definition.
  • Work with fabrication shops and vendors to complete fabrication of designs.
  • Investigate and trouble-shoot to assess issues and develop resolutions.
  • Work proactively to complete tasks with minimal direction.
  • Communicate effectively with project management, customers, and team members across disciplines.
  • Attend technical interchange meetings with the team members and other project personnel and represent the organization in matters pertaining to project development.
  • Provide status on assigned tasks and program schedules.
  • Provide document review and resolve technical engineering and integration issues.
  • Manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
  • Support on-site work, as needed.
  • Support travel or off-site work, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • An active U.S. Government Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Clearance. Current SSBI is preferred.
  • 12 or more years of progressive experience in technical role.
  • 10 or more years of experience with application and/or design, architecture and development.
  • An active USG clearance. TS SCI - Current SSBI is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience within electrical engineering.
  • Deep understanding of system integration, embedded design, analog integration, sensor design and integration, Low and high-speed digital transfer (I2C, SPI, USB, UART, etc.), data acquisition, AC/DC and DC/DC power design, EMI/EMC best practices, digital signal processing techniques, and signal integrity.

Physical Requirements

A qualified candidate must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily. If requested, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position, absent undue hardship.

  • Must be able to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery for a majority of the shift.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a majority of the shift.
  • Must be able to occasionally move materials and/or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.

Geost reserves the right to change or assign other duties to this position.
